OUR STORY

Pest management has been in the O’Neal family since the 1940’s. When Aaron’s grandfather, Melvin O’Neal, was discharged from the Marines after WWII, he acquired his commercial pilots license and began dusting cotton for Boll Weevil in the late 1940’s in Mississippi. A decade later, he moved to the great state of Texas to continue his work. He decided to take a break from the business in 1958, but as you will find out anytime you speak to Aaron, once the pest management “bug” gets ahold of you, it’s there to stay.

In 1965 Melvin returned to dusting and spraying and continued until he retired at 72 years of age in 1997. Aaron’s father, Mark O’Neal, also worked with his father in pest management early on, before he began his career with ExxonMobil. This family is passionate about pest control. Aaron is no different, and it shines through in every aspect of his life. He has 16 years in the industry and looks forward to many more years to come.

Aaron is the owner and SPCS Certified Responsible Applicator of Advanced Pest Control, a pest control company that works in partnership with customers to help abate, manage, and protect their homes and businesses from common (and sometimes not-so-common) occurring pests. Aaron’s 16+ years of working as a certified applicator is informed by the perspective of his decade-long tenure in pest control with Terminix in Beaumont, TX, Orkin, and previous ownership of Clover Shield Pest Control.

Pest management is a technical pursuit. It requires education, training, and experience in order to be successful and operate in an effective, economically sound, and environmentally safe manner. In Texas, licensing and certification is required to both work and operate a business in the pest control industry. Aaron earned his SPCS Certified Applicator Certification from the Texas Department of Agriculture in 2009 and has been in pest management since 2006. As a result, he is licensed to provide pest control and termite services, including inspection and identification, for his licensed pest control business.

Aaron understands the science and application methodology that successful pest management professionals achieve through experience and the demands required to perform at an exceptional level. To increase his knowledge base and add a new dimension to his expertise, he is continuing his education by adding professional credentialing from the Entomological Society of America (ESA) as an Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE). This credential is earned by those who have demonstrated high levels of professional training and understanding of entomology as it relates to structural pest control.

“The best pest control technicians are constantly learning and iterating their processes. There will always be new laws and regulations, techniques, products, and equipment. While insects rarely change, chemicals and regulations do. The more we understand the insects we are facing each day, the better we are able to control them through our management practices. The challenge in our industry is to familiarize ourselves with both the new and the old and to become more competent with application and determination of the efficacy of each stratagem available to us. The great thing about knowledge is that it doesn’t expire – you can use it over and over again.”

Aaron O’Neal

Aaron has serviced over 60,000 customers during his time in the pest management industry and has trained a multitude of technicians in every aspect of pest management. This training was designed to help them become top performers and earners in their field, with marketable skills they can take with them throughout their career in pest management or any endeavor they choose in their lives.

Aaron frequently presents at workshops on pest control topics and has created an online education resource for existing pest control professionals to acquire the necessary Continuing Education Credits (CEU’s) needed to retain their certifications each year.

The Beaumont, Texas Chamber of Commerce has profiled Aaron, and he received accommodation for his excellence in service in 2012 for his contribution to the field of pest management, and for excellence in his performance during his tenure with Terminix.
